As the Summer holidays come to an end, early nights begin again and the school routine kicks in spend the last weekend enjoying a family film night in.

Here are L&C’s perfect ingredients for enjoying a film night with the whole crew.

The movies

Trying to get one film that they entire family will enjoy can be a bit of a nightmare. It has to be a film that caters to all ages - parents included! Have no fear - we have some suggestions that can help avoid a family fallout before the night has even started…

Our recommendation is to get one family member to select one movie each they’d like to watch. Then, write the film titles on a piece of paper and place into a hat. Pick out of the hat a piece of paper and that is the film you will be watching for the evening. Start early enough and you might even be able to sneak two in!

Some of our favourites include:

Sing: a heat warming film for all ages. Introduce the kids to some classic songs, covered by a variety of different animals and a story that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy.

Matilda: based on the novel by Roald Dahl, Matilda tells the story of a gifted girl whose family doesn't understand her. Discovering she has secret powers Matilda helps her schoolmates from the evil principal. Guaranteed to leave the family laughing.

Toy Story: an absolute classic that parents will enjoy just as much as kids. Watch the adventures of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and all of Andy’s other toys - it is bound to set imaginations running wild! Start early and do a movie marathon and watch Toy Story 2, 3 and 4 on the same day.

Monsters Inc: funny, charming and full of adventure. Watch the lovable, confident, tough, furry blue behemoth-like giant monster named James P. Sullivan (better known as Sulley) and his wisecracking best friend, short, green cyclops monster Mike Wazowski, discover what happens when the real world interacts with theirs in the form of a 2-year-old baby girl dubbed "Boo”.

the snacks

Microwave popcorn- need we say anymore? The obvious go to choice when it comes to movie snacks! Start the night with a takeaway pizza, building suspense and talking about what you think the film will be about.

Make sure you’ve stocked up on all the good but extremely bad things, chocolate, crisps, sweets the list is endless - it is a movie night after all!

But if you are wanting to do this right parents, you also need a treat! Put together a lovely cheese board would be a treat and get a glass of wine - job done.

cosy up on the sofa

The only way to watch a film is in your comfy pjs. Lucky Look & Cover provide pyjamas the whole family can enjoy. With a range of colours there is certainly something for everybody. The kids can fall asleep on the sofa and are all ready to be carried up to bed once the film has ended- unless you as parents fall asleep first (it happens to the best of us….)!

A night in with the family is one of life’s simple pleasures.

Happy watching!
