The festive period is over, the decorations are down and it’s starting to seem like a distant memory. The third Monday in January is thought-of as the most depressing day of the year. Have no fear, Look & Cover are here with our top tips for making this January your happiest and brightest yet!

Set your goals

New Year’s resolutions are so easily set and never met. Why not change it up and set yourself easy goals to work towards instead - be more active, learn a new language, take a walk on your lunch twice a week instead of eating at your desk, spending more time with friends …

These should be easily achievable and should help you to beat the blues.

Book a break

There are lots of deals to be had at this time of year. Make the most of it and book yourself a mini-break. Spa breaks are ideal as they help you get over the rush of Christmas and restore your balance - and skin from a period of food and booze!

Get outdoors

We all know that getting outside and getting active releases those happy endorphins. If you can’t quite face the gym yet, just get outside, blow away the cobwebs and take the whole family for a walk.

You are what you eat

Top up with Vitamin D - This vital vitamin is proven to lift your mood and strengthen your immune system. Salmon, sardines and eggs are all full of this superpower vitamin.

Avoid the comfort eating - Try to stay clear of white, high GI carbs like white bread and pasta. These lead to quick sugar highs and the inevitable lows. You can still have carb comfort but stick to those with low GI like wholemeal pasta and bread.

Up your Omega-3 - Omega 3 can actually increase your mood and has been proven to help treat depression. Make sure you're getting enough by eating lots of oily fish, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, walnuts and dark, leafy green vegetables.

Me time

We think this is the most important step. After the festive rush, it’s so important that you take some time out for you. Whether it’s going for a run or setting some time aside for a relaxing bath. The fellow Cumbrian beauty brand, The Bath House, has the most beautiful oils, salts and soaks to treat yourself with.

Our range of loungewear is perfect for after the bath, relax in comfort and style in your own personalised luxuries.
